Allan Lind will talk about the six domains of leadership, using film clips and business examples to illustrate different aspects of leadership, as he explains how the various parts of leadership relate to each other. He will also talk briefly about special demands for leadership in times of crisis and change.

Decision science is concerned with helping individuals and organizations make better decisions. This is important because the only way that you can purposefully influence the quality of your life, your family, your organization, your country, or your world is through the decisions you make. Everything else just happens. This talk will outline a systematic way to think through complex decisions. It discusses and illustrates several shortcomings of relying on intuition alone for important decisions and suggests how you can complement intuition with ideas and techniques from decision science.

Duke University's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Fuqua School of Business is hosting a one-day symposium on best practices in the management of intellectual property in information technology, telecommunications, life science and entertainment industries, with a focus on patents. World-class leaders in devising and executing IP-based business models from across the United States will convey their views on best practices for the management of IP. The symposium will be of interest to business, law, engineering and science students, university faculty with interests in venture creation and business and technology strategy, faculty concerned with intellectual property and related policies, corporate and independent patent counsels, executives concerned with corporate business development and the startup community.
